A new non isotopic highly sensitive and specific assay for the measurement
of human placental growth hormone with among other advances
a 10-fold lower detection limit was published by members of
our group, making analysis in early normal pregnancy possible [2].
We here describe for the first time the detection of hGH-V in the
patient's serum in GTD (12 out of 16 cases, see Table 1). The cases
with negative serum hGH-V included all examined entities, there was
no predominance of any clinicopathologic form, neither could we demonstrate
a clear correlation with the serum hCG in these cases.
