sampled sites were positive suggesting frequent exposure of staff to MRSA. A recent study analysing 50 ambulances in the state of Maine revealed MRSA in 25 ambulances, when at least one site was sampled.6 The authors showed that several areas were contami- nated and concluded from the high number of positive ambulances that decontamination practices need to be re-enforced. Of note, these studies were all conducted in the USA, which is reported to have a higher MRSA burden than Germany.8
