Illness perceptions in endocrine diseases have not
been frequently studied. We documented some differences
in illness perceptions between the various treatment
groups of acromegalic patients. Moreover, there
were also differences between patients with Cushing’s
syndrome and acromegaly. It is tempting to speculate
that there are disease-specific characteristics in illness
perceptions in addition to more general influences related
to complaints or chronicity. Additional research is
needed to see whether these findings can be extended to
other endocrine diseases
