We surveyed people’s relative preference between a new transit and the other modes,
assuming the new transit is installed. It was purposed to estimate the population parameter of
mode choice model by using the surveyed individual behavior data. It was surveyed to transit
users and residents in Kangnam-gu by door-to-door and on-street paper questionnaire for 6
days in July, 2000. Before the survey, the prospect surveyors are grouped into five according
to their use of new transit and the purpose of trip, and different questionnaires are provided
fitting to their condition. A, B, C are regular commuters and D, E are who have business,
shopping, and entertainment purpose trips. Table 1 shows the criteria to group the surveyors,
and table 2 illustrates the basic assumptions used for the design of each type.
