Philosophy is central to curriculum because the philosophy advocated or reflected by a particular school and its officials influences the goals or slots and content, as well as the organization, of its curriculum. Usually, schools reflect several philosophies, which adds to the dynamics of the curriculum within the school. Studying philosophy not only allows us to better understand schools and their curricula, but also to deal with our own personal systems of perceptions, beliefs, and values the way we perceive the world around us and how we define what is important to us. It helps us to understand who we are, why we are, and, to some extent, where we are going.
