The results of the reference analysis for the full set are listed in Table 1. The results reveal a broad range in the carotenoid composition in the calibration set. According to Helyes et al. (2006a), the lycopene content of sixteen different tomato varieties in Hungary ranged between 39 and 171 μg g-1. In our case, the actual all-trans lycopene content of the samples was found to be in the range of 31.5- 109.2 μg g-1 and the β-carotene content was in the range of 0.49-3.87 μg g-1 by the HPLC determination.
