For this particular reason, a second logistic regression model was evaluated in order to
determine if selected questions from the underlying balance and psychological measures
were significant predictors in fall status. For this model, the predictors entered into the
analysis consisted of the Berg balance scale (14 individual questions), the Activities-specific
Balance Confidence scale (16 individual questions), mean postural sway frequency modes
and mean simple reaction time. The logistic analysis showed that three predictors were
significant contributors of falls. Simple reaction time was the most significant predictor
followed by question 1 of the ABC scale (walk around the house), question 14 of the Berg
balance scale (standing on one leg).
