Pricing Policies
Pricing policies among social media firms appear limited to two primary areas.
The first being the market for different types of advertising; the other would be
subscription-based pricing, for those firms offering some type of premium service
Prices for advertising follow demand tendencies, in that higher demand will allow
social media firms to charge a higher price for advertising; lower prices result when
demand is weak.
In terms of advertising, some social media sites offer premium services on a
subscription-based plan to consumers or businesses. One of the more successful
has been Linkedln, which offers premium tiers for a monthly fee that enables
expanded features and unlimited search capabilities. Going forward, we can expect
to see more social media firms offer different types of subscription plans that enable
a higher level of functionality and features.
