Janet a New robot
The National Taiwan University Science and Technology (NTUST) and several Japanese robotics labs have developed Janet, the Taiwan 's first humanoid performer robot that has the ability to speak, sing and walk.
Janet was presented at a news conference to promote the 11th national University Design and Manufacturing Contest that is slated to be held on 19-21 October. Janet actually announced the contest that will take place at Cheng Shiu University in the southern county of Kaohsiung and is organized the Ministry of Education.
The NTUST has spent around two years to develop the performing robot. Moreover, the university also plans to create another robot of the same type. In that regards, NTUST professor Lin Chi-yu said that Janet and a partner robot, Thomas, which is still under development, will together perform before disadvantaged groups starting next summer.
