Steiner’s geometric result is as follows (e.g., [6, Vol. II, pp. 85–86, 175–182]): If
the triangle has a vertex with angle at least 120◦
, then that vertex is the Steiner point.
Otherwise, if all vertex-angles are less than 120◦
, the Steiner point is the unique interior
point of the triangle such that the angles made at the point (as in the Figure 1) are
all 120◦
. We shall use this to obtain an analytic solution.
