4. Conclusions
In summary, a novel and simple method to synthesize macroscopic oxidized graphite was developed on a large scale. The oxidized graphite possessed unique physical features such as low apparent density, high porosity, excellent mechanical stability, high hydrophobicity. As a lubricating oil adsorbent, the oxidized graphite exhibited high adsorption capacity, excellent recyclability and high selectivity. The batch adsorption showed that oxidized graphite displayed the excellent adsorption capacity for lubricating oils in the environmental cleanup, although oxidized graphite degraded very slowly and its environmental and ecological impact remained unclear.
