Western religions such as Christianity, Judaism and Islam are monotheistic. Despite the common Hindu idea that all gods are ultimately one, Westerners more often regard Hinduism, with its many deities, as polytheistic.
Western monotheistic religions teach that God and the world (his creation) are two separate entities. That is, God made humans, so humans are not the same as God. In Western religions, God is divine, but humans are not, because they are not God.
Therefore, in religions such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, people pray to God to find spiritual salvation.
