Consequently, students are motivated by inquiry learning. Not only because students are actively
involved in the process but because the expectation of finding the answer motivates the search for it.
Constructivism is designed to make the student the center of the learning and the teacher serves as the
“guide on the side” instead of the “sage on the stage,” which is usually the case with teacher-centered, direct
instruction classrooms (White-Clark, DiCarlo, & Gilchriest, 2008). This type of constructivist environment
promotes students‘ curiosity and motivates them to investigate their interests associated with the material,
which promotes independent learning.
