Two hundred and nine unrelated healthy Brazilian Japanese descendants, between the ages of 18 and 55 (36.8 ± 9.2), from both genders (male, 44.02%; female, 55.98%) were selected for this study. Over fifty percent of them (56.94%) had both parents and grandparents who had come from Japan (JB), and 43.06% had grandparents from Japan but their mother or father had mixed Brazilian origin (MJB).
