The objective of this element is to verify that the quality system complies with planned arrangements, such as the ISO 9001 International Standard, and to verify whether these arrangements are implemented effectively and are suitable to achieve quality objectives. Internal quality audits serve to improve the quality system from the perspective of individual faculty and staff members, since they raise official attention to shortcomings and problems within the system. An effective internal quality audit system should be established on the basis of ISO 10011 Guidelines for Quality Audit, with faculty members trained as internal quality auditors.
