Escaping compressed gas or liquid vinyl chloride exposure can cause frostbite injury. If frostbite is present, treat by rewarming in a water bath at a temperature of 102–108 EF (40–42 EC) for 20 to 30 minutes and continue until a flush has returned to the affected area. If chemical burns from other toxicants are present, treat as thermal burns.
Because of their relatively larger surface area:body weight ratio, children are more vulnerable to toxicants absorbed through the skin.
