The effects of water pollution on society and the environment
(1) It is dangerous to human health and has sometimes caused death. This is because of harmful bacteria, chemicals and poisons absorbed by the aquatic animals that we eat.
(2)The more polluted the water the greater the cost of producting pure water.
(3) It causes agricultural production to drop or fail because of harmful substances left by polluted water on the land.
(4) It reduces the numbers of aquatic animals and in some cases cause types of animals to crease to exist.
(5) It makes unpleasant odours and makes rivers, lakes, oceans and the land look ugly.
Methods of water conservation
(1) By building dams and reservoirs, we can control the flow of river water and in lakes and reservoirs. As a result we can save rainwater more efficiently.
