Got a free upgrade to a suite because they were taking a while to sort out our check-in. The suite is huge, though the wood flooring shows some wear and tear. Especially loved the bathroom with bath salts and an extra large tub. Very clean. Enjoyed the pillow menu. There is no central light switch by the bed so you do have to turn off all the lights one by one. Also the power plugs are not well-placed - they are either on the floor or directly behind the bedside table and you have to pull it away to access the power plugs. If you get the room I did (sorry forgot the room number), one side of the room windows is blocked off with wood panels since it faces the palace. If this is something that would bother you (I feel it made the room very dark), then mention it during your booking. Service was excellent. Staff very friendly. Location is excellent - if you go out the hotel main entrance and walk straight, you will reach MBK and close-by malls like Siam Paragon within 10 mins. Feels safe to walk on the street. Pool is very small. Gym is very spacious and well-equipped. I would call this an excellent 4-star hotel, not sure if it would qualify as 5-star.
