The Holy Quran demonstrates that God addressed Mary in the way He addresses the prophets, and raised her to the highest degrees of honoring and favoring. The Quran also mentions the mother of the Virgin Mary: "Behold! Wife of Imran said: ‘O my lord! I do dedicate into Thee what is in my womb for Thy special service; so accept this of me; for Thou hearest and knowest all things’". And in the following verse of the same chapter: "When she was delivered, she said: ‘O my Lord! Behold! I am delivered of a female child!’ – And Allah knew best what she brought forth – ‘And is not the male like the female. I have named her Mary, and I commend her and her offspring to Thy protection from Satan, the Rejected’". We also read in the following verse: "Right graciously did her Lord accept her; He made her grow in purity and beauty; to the care of Zakariya was she assigned. Every time that he entered (her) chamber to see her, he found her supplied with sustenance. He said: "O Mary! Whence (comes) this to you? "She said: "From Allah; for Allah provides sustenance to whom he pleases without measure." (Surah Al-Imran, Verses 35 to 37)
This is the wife of Imran, mother of the Virgin Mary, who dedicated the child to God's service while she was still pregnant, and when she was delivered, she feared that she wouldn't be able to fulfill her vow in that the girl wouldn't be able to perform her role in the service inside the temple. But Allah be He Exalted, accepted her and she performed her role perfectly.
The Holy Quran also refers to Pharaoh's wife who adopted Moses: "And Allah sets forth, as an example to those who believe the wife of Pharaoh: behold she said: ‘O my lord! Build for me, in nearness to Thee, a mansion in the Garden, and save me from Pharaoh and his doings, and save me from those that do wrong’." (Surah Al-Tahrim, Verse 11)
Despite the position and the supreme authority of her husband, the Pharaoh, this woman paid no attention to all these gains and opposed the doctrine of her husband and believed in God, thus disavowing polytheism adopted by her husband.
