: Needlestick and sharps injuries represent an important workplace issue in contemporary nursing. study This is of a new tool to snap-off the neck of sealed ampoule. The idea of the new tool is to reduce injuries to the hands of nurses and save their time for patient care .The tool was evaluated against other methods of snap-off (grinding and slicing and grinding and slicing with gloves) and sizes of ampoule for safety and time saving.
We observed that time of snap-off was longer in 10 and 20 ml ampoules by grinding and slicing and grinding and slicing with gloves, and the time of snap-off wase shorter with the new tool. In addition, the degree of satisfaction with the new tool was good. This study provides a novel tool to snap-off the neck of ampoules effectively which decreases the time consumed and sharp injuries.
