Railway logistics has played an important role in Chinese logistics development
in the past. Li and Cai (2007) give an empirical analysis of the statistical properties
of the China Railway Network (CRN) consisting of 3,915 nodes (train stations)
and 22,259 edges (direct track connections between stations). Wang et al. (2008)
perform a similar detailed analysis, investigating the path length that every train
runs, the distribution of the railroad path lengths and the optimal distribution of
stations
