. Perforating corrosion of Usibor® AlSi panels exposed to VDA 233-102
and salt spray test
Table 3 summarizes the results of weight loss measurements and the
average and the maximum attack depths measured by laser triangulation
on the whole corroded area for unpainted open panels and for
flanges after 12 weeks of exposure in the VDA 233-102 test and after
3 weeks of SST. It is clear from the corrosion depth measurements
that the anticorrosion improvement over bare steel through aluminized
hot stamping process is several times more pronounced in the VDA 233-
102 test than in the continuous salt spray test for non-painted omega
walls. The perforating corrosion resistance of Usibor® AlSi in the VDA
233-102 test is independent of the coating weight in the range of 80–
150 g m−2
