effectiveness ofanimmediatelyloadedimplantislesspredictable
than thatofthedelay-loadedimplant [4]. Themainconcernisthe
occurrence offibrousencapsulationinsteadofosseointegration
around implants [6].
An importantrequirementoftheimmediatelyloadedimplant
is tominimizemicromovementatthebone–implantinterface
(BII) duringocclusionwiththeopposingdentition [6]. The
implant surfacetextureplaysanimportantroleinBIImobility,
with rougheningofthesurfacebeingbeneficialtoincreasingthe
area oftheBII [7] and theresistancetoshearforces [8] due tothe
increased surfacefriction.Manytechniqueshavebeenusedto
produce varioustypesofmicroroughnessstructuresonthe
implant surface,suchassandblasting,plasmaspraying,and
porous beading [9]. Althoughtheusefulnessofaroughsurface
texture inimplantsforimmediateloadingprocedureshasbeen
suggested [10], adeeperunderstandingisrequiredfortheeffects
of surfacetextureofimmediatelyloadedimplantsonmicromo-
tion attheBIIandthestressdistributioninbone.
