Thai people are considerate and respectful to seniors. We were taught to behave and speak politely to people when we were children. The common Thai greeting is “Sawasdee ka” when is spoken by women and “Sawasdee krap” when is spoken by men. Thai people use “Kha” and “Krap” at the end of many sentences to be polite when we speak. When we walk pass seniors, we are taught to bow our head. We often feel responsible to our parents as we get elder. For example, I have been supporting and helping my parents since I got my first income. I have been proud of myself about repaying a kindness to my parents as they were my sole support. What the great culture of considerate and respectful to help Thai families to stay close.
