Motivation as a process of energizing, directing and
supporting workplace behavior has several facets: (1)
cognitive, (2) affective and (3) volitional.
The cognitive component refers to beliefs, opinions,
knowledge, or information held by a person. The affective
component is the emotional or part of an attitude (Robbins,
Coulter, 2012: 396). The volitional component involves a
cognitive aspect as well as an affective one, and includes
will, desire, intentions and cognitive engagement in an
action and/or behavior
