To assess fumigant toxicity of C. aurantium essential oils and pure limonene, Whatman No. 1 filter papers (2 cm diameter) were impregnated with the different oil doses 0.1, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.8 L calculated to release fumigant concentrations of 5–50 L/L air. All impregnated filter papers were attached to the screw cap of a 40 mL Plexiglas bottle. Caps were screwed on tightly after adding twenty adults of B. tabaci to each bottle. Each treatment and control were replicated five times. The experiment was performed in an airconditioned laboratory with temperature set at 26 ± 2◦C, 60 ± 5% RH, and photoperiod of L:D 16 h:8 h.
