none of the reinsurance coverage gives an optimal outcome (i.e., minimizes risk and maximizes retained premiums).
The results in Table 2 and Fig. 6 show that the largest RPS ratio and retained premiums after claims are obtained under quota-share reinsurance (RPS=4.477 and retained premiums after claims = A$18.6 mln. (US$16 mln.)).
The semi-variance of the retained claims, however, is the smallest under surplus reinsurance (0.024). This result is consistent with the previous results for Life Insurance.
The premiums of quota-share reinsurance are the lowest of all (see Appendix B) and can be optimal if the variability of the sum insured values is relatively low.
When the variability of these amounts is high, quota-share reinsurance usually is inefficient in minimizing the risk of the retained claims.
