even in the presence of glucose. Nonetheless, xylose consumption was accelerated when glucose was being consumed, indicating a greater ease of assimilation of glucose compared to xylose by K. marxianus. These results show that the strain of K. marxianus employed has great potential to grow in the cashew apple bagasse hydrolysate, even with no supplementation of the medium and without the need for hydrolysate concentration, opposed to most of the studies presented in the literature.
