Perioperative management
A radial arterial catheter, using local anaesthesia, and a
peripheral venous catheter were inserted. General
anaesthesia with endotracheal intubation based on midazolam,
etomidate, sufentanil and inhaled sevoflurane
with an oxygen and air mixture at 1:1 ratio was applied.
For muscle relaxation, pipecuronium bromide was administered.
Because the preoperative blood haemoglobin was
high, we exsanguinated patient blood into an autologous
blood bag and retransfused it when CPB was finished.
