According to tales and legends, the celebration of Chinese New Year first happened 4,000 years ago and it was not named Chinese New Year festival. In 2100 B.C, this festival had been called “Sui” festival, as the ancient Chinese determined their year based on Jupiter cycle phase which they named it “Sui”. 1000 years later, the Chinese changed the name of this festival to “Nian”; which means the abundance in crops harvesting.
