which country would you like to visit and why?
Travel Forums General Talk which country would you like to visit and why?
If you win a trip and you could choose which counties or city you would like to visit what would it be and why?:)
I would go to Mozambique, because i had it's a good place to visit.
my source told me that they have nice ocean, it's always warm, they have nice food and the fatc that it's in Africa make me even more interested.
I would like to go to London because it is just so vast. Glasgow is more interesting and beautiful in that the interesting and beautiful bits are closer together...it's sort of an illusion. As well, because London has so many more people and is a much faster-paced city, that takes away some of its sheen.:)
I long to visit Israel, Jerusalem. As a devoted christian I would want to see the place where Jesus was crucified, The temples commissioned by King David and his son king Solomon. Also because it a world heritage site.
Buenos Aires (Argentina) has long been on my travel list for many reasons, the big City,Beautiful women:),soccer, steak, wine, and tango..There is also the nice beaches where you can relax in the sun, play beach soccer(one of my favorite),and you get to meet most soccer greats as most of them came through the ranks of Boca Juniors..Come 2014 i'll be there.
Because I am a fan of remote islands, I would probably choose for either a trip to the southern Atlantic (Ascension, St Helana, Tristan da Cunha) or souther Indian Ocean (Kerguelen, Crozet etc).
Although my next trip is a return to SE Asia, I'm also looking ahead and thinking of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Just never been to S. America, and I know it's a great place with good food and great places to see.
After S. America, maybe Morocco and a return to Turkey and Georgia (I just love spicy food)
It's not a country, but I'd like to visit Antarctica. And I know I'll never be able to afford it, if I have to pay for it myself.
Other places that top my list:
Australia- esp. Cairns and the Daintree Rainforest. I've seen pictures- it looks gorgeous.
Israel and Jordan: esp. Jerusalem, the Dead Sea and Petra
Indonesia: so many islands to explore!
Brazil: esp. the Amazon River and the east coast (Rio!)
Bhutan the Land of Gross National Happiness!
Interesting sight seeing
Festivals
Trekking

The latest on my list are Turkey, Jordan, and Uruguay.
I also agree with madpoet's suggestion of Antarctica! What an experience!
Think of India - As a country it has everything that u would like to see and feel. Few places i can suggest in India is
Rajasthan - Live like a king in a palace hotel, ride an elephant to a fort and get a glimpse of kings life. Also u can enjoy the experience of staying in Desert in Jaisalmer.
Kashmir - Sheer nature beauty to see and feel... Welcome to lans of Ice capped mountains, lake, house boat, Gardens full of different varities of roses and flowers. Orchard filled with apple and appricoat. If u are an adventure type try skiing or white water rafting...
Manali - Snow capped mountain, adventure sports such as mountain climing, para gliding, white water rafting, crossing rivers in cold water.
Kearla - called as gods own country has loads of lakes, hill station and nature wonders to see.
Definately North Korea and Bhutan- would be so interesting to see closed-off countries. Top of the list are also Madagaskar and Socotra, for their super-unique nature.
Where would you like to travel and why?
Where would you like to travel and why? What the the most favorite place you have travelled to and why is it your favorite?
I always have the next few trips in the planning stage....
Traveling to someplace I've not been before is one of my favorite things to do. I love the feeling of stepping off the plane in a new city/country and setting out to discover what makes it so special. There's something exciting about the unknown, and something even more exciting about peeling back the mystery a layer at a time.
I am always reading and thinking about my next trip or two, so that when I get a chance I can just take off and have an idea of what to expect. One of the trips I'm planning is a bicycle tour in Ireland. I was on the Emerald Isle (and it really is--with about 2,000 other shades of green as well) for a few days some years ago, but never got a chance to get out of the area around Galway and Shannon. This time I would like to start by spending some time in Dublin, and then renting a bicycle and heading out into the countryside of central Ireland. I am sure to find plenty of welcoming B & Bs wherever my journey takes me, or more likely wherever my legs give out and refuse to pedal any farther that day. One of my great-aunts did some research years ago on the family history, and it would be fun to go poke around Tipperary and see if I can unearth the branches of the family who stayed behind. I can't quite decide whether I would try to explore the kinship ties; it probably gets dreary for the Irish, who have so many "long lost" relatives scattered all over the world, to get a knock on the door and open up to find yet another second/third/fifth cousin twice removed on Patrick's side of the family standing there on the doorstep waiting to be entertained. Although maybe not--the Irish have earned their reputation for conviviality. I have been to few places more warmly welcoming. It's probably true, as people say, that the Irish never meet a stranger!
The other trip I am toying with, constructing and re-constructing right now is a train trip through Eastern Europe. I love train travel--such a relaxed way to get from place to place, and convenient in Europe where you can expect to find a great rail network and timely connections. The problem is that the more I read, the more "must see" stops I keep adding to my list. I had originally planned to travel by rail from Istanbul to St. Petersburg. I know, though, that I'll want to spend enough time in Sofia, Budapest, Bucharest, Dobrovnik, Prague and Warsaw to let the culture, history and modern changes soak in, so I think I'll have to make one trip no farther than Poland, and save St. Petersburg for another voyage of discovery.
Your "favorite places" question is a real poser.....it seems like almost every city I visit is so congenial and interesting that I post a mental bookmark and think "I really must come back here." It's tough making the decision between re-visiting those places once seen and loved, and setting out to perhaps fall in love with someplace altogether different. The two most magnetic cities I've visited are London and Florence. Both are cram-full of amazing experiences, and both have a huge MUST RETURN mental Post-It Note on them. London has so much to see and do--the museums, the galleries, the historical buildings, theater, music, great restaurants, streets fun to roam around in soaking up the atmosphers. I guess I've been to London something like 15 times, but I can never wait to return. And Florence is like one of those Russian matryoshka dolls; the city itself is a work of art, with its historic bridges over the Arno, the beautiful granite buildings with their harmonious red-tiled roofs, the elegant proliferation of cathedrals and churches just chock-full of the bones and monuments of the famous. No matter how many layers of art you work your way through in Florence, you'll find another and another and another still waiting to be explored.
Anybody want to hire a professional traveler? I could do that....
I have one continent left to visit…
Antarctica. It is the only continent I have not been on, and I would very much like to go there. I did have the opportunity at one point; unfortunately the fortunes of war sent me to the Middle East instead.
One of the objectives of going to Antarctica would to do several ice dives. While in graduate school, I studied the glycoproteins that keep several species of fish from freezing in the subzero temperatures of Antarctica. I often wondered what that world would be like, and what an experience it would to be to visit an environment that hostile. What do the life forms that live there look like? I would love to see, and live that.
I do think I would like to do a winter over, just to see what it would be like to survive there. After that, I think a long visit to the Caribbean would be in order.
- Deciding what place is my favorite to visit would be hard. I think China was one of my all time favorites. I truly enjoy history. When we speak of American history, we speak in hundreds of years. When the Chinese speak of their history, they speak of thousands of years. To walk the Great Wall, and experience the history was a spine tingling encounter like none other that I have had. The people are warm, and friendly with a good heart. They willingly take you into their homes and shops, and let you experience parts of their lives. I found it an unspoiled culture, and I must admit that the food was absolutely incredible. I am glad we walked just about everywhere we went, or I would have gained too much weight to get home.
Africa, no doubt...
hello art, my wife and I have traveled all over the world and the place that impressed us the most was "Africa". A few years back, we went on a short photo safari in Kenya and went on game drives in Amboseli National Park. The park is not a place that was created and had animals brought in. It is an entirely natural setting where the animals can be observed in their own habitat. We saw and photographed lions, elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, water buffalo, giraffes, wildebeest, zebra, many many monkeys and assorted antelope. We also rubbed elbows with the local natives known as the Masa Maira. When out in the plains (Serenghetti), you can literally see for miles on a 360 degree basis. Toward the end of the safari, we took a side trip to "Lake Victoria where we had breakfast on beauItiful grounds overlooking the lake. Afterward, we went fishing
