Concern about the amount of time such a conversation will require (Emanuel, Barry,& Stoeckle, 1991). Some physicians fear that having discussion about end-of-life care planning , which are not reimbursable, may be very time consuming. Studies indicate that it taker approximately 10-16 minutes of physician time discussion with a patient and/or family for a DNA decision to be reached; this is often the first in a series of the end-of-life decision (Tulaky et al., 1995; Smith et al., 1997).
