India launches petrochemical plant in Dibrugarh
According to media reports, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated a INR10,000 crore ($1.48 billion) petrochemical plant project belonging to Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited and a wax unit project in Dibrugarh today. He commented that the projects will enhance domestic production, help reduce imports and provide job opportunities.
Brahmaputra Cracker & Polymer Ltd was previously established as part of the 1985 Assam Peace Accord and the construction of its petrochemical plant started in 2007.
