Before I could do anything further, I heard a knock on the door.
“Son, are you in there?” The landowner said.
“Uh, yeah Dad.” I said in the kid’s boyish voice.
“Alright, hurry up. I am heading into town today to run some errands. Come say bye to your old pops.”
“Ok Dad. I’ll be right out.”
I quickly regained my composure and tried to put a confident smile on the teen’s face.
I opened the door and the landowner was standing there with his back turned. He looked menacing, but I had to remember I had a disguise now. He turned around and looked shocked.
“Wow, son. Put on some clothes. It’s already 10.”
“Right, sorry Mr.- I mean Dad. I slept in a little late.” I said nervously.
He eyed me suspiciously but ended up leaning down for a hug. I hugged him back in the hope that this whole scene would end ASAP.
“Call me if anything happens. Shaun is out working too if you need anything. Be back in a little.”
“Alright, see you later.” I said, hoping that I actually wouldn’t.
After he left, I went back into my new bedroom and got dressed. I wasn’t supposed to sleep in this late. I’m sure my whole family was worried by now. This kid must have been used to getting a good night’s rest. Spoiled brat.
I came outside just in time to see the landowner leaving in his truck. I remembered that he called someone Shaun, which must have been my son in that body. I walked around outside and found him sitting in his truck. He looked nervous and worried, but when I got his attention, he looked delighted.
