4.3 Developing an Organizational Vocabulary
The language of business is focused on economic value. The Business Analyst need not be an accountant or a financial analyst, but they must be familiar with the basic vocabulary of these two disciplines in order to communicate effectively with the Business Community.
The ability to understand the terminology and apply it correctly will significantly improve the requirements gathering and test case development processes. Conversely, the lack of understanding can create, at best, time delays and, at worst, critical defects in a product.
