The mean serum creatinine and the mean INR in the deliberate overdose group did not differ significantly between light, moderate or heavy alcohol consumption categories on any of the first 7 days post overdose (Figure 1 and 2). Over this period, none of the cases required FFP or plasma infusion (which is not part of the intensive care protocol) ordialysis, which could have influenced these values. There was also no correlation between alcohol consumption and mean arterial pH over the same time period. The mean white blood cell count (WBC) was significantly lower in heavy drinkers on day 3post overdose (12.1ฑ0.7) than in non-drinkers(14.4ฑ0.74, p10 000 IU/l, rather than as exact values, in cases where levels were substantially elevated.
