In case of stretching
C-O deoxyribose (n(C–O)d) bonds corresponding
to 1013 cm1, the reversibility mechanism is slower,
taking place after 220 min. The ratio that involves
the symmetric PO2 stretch coupled with the ribose
stretch at 1088 cm1 and the antisymmetric stretching
vibration located at 1230 cm1 gives an image of the
perturbation experienced by the phosphate. This
ratio represents a measurement of a conformation
change of the macromolecule and not only the
degree of complexation on PO2.
