4.3 Safety Distance
It is the responsibility of the STIC‟s specialist to define the safety distance where dose rate will not exceed 7.5 μSv/hr. For this purpose, a calculation note will be kept available to Owner‟s representative or Field Safety Superintendent, in order to assess the effectiveness of the installed barriers.
In addition, a site check may be required by Field Safety Superintendent, for which STIC will use its radiation survey meter. This equipment will also be used to regularly check that the area (accessible point by other persons) where radioactive source is stored stays under the 2.5 μSv/hr dose rate or, if not practicable, 7.5 μSv/hr.
