She explained further that living in the hills she depended entirely on what her family had cultivated surviving by eating only rice and chillies. There was no cash income, and a journey to town could be done only with much difficulty. Medical assistance could not be obtained when her children became ill and on school was available for them. She complained of the hardships which she had had to bear. According to her, everyone in the village wanted to move down to the lowlands, but not everyone could do so because of lack of money and relatives or friends willing to help.
