The effect of used phenolic compounds on serum biochemistry parameters was presented in
Fig. 1. The TAN group had significantly lower (P < 0.05) glucose values in comparison to all
other experimental groups. Tannic acid stimulates glucose transport with a profile similar to
that of insulin which could explain significant reduction of serum glucose values only in the
TAN group in comparison to the CON group. Dietary intake of phenolic compounds did not
significantly influence the concentration of serum total cholesterol and triglycerides of
broilers. These effects are variable in other investigations, which could be attributed to the
experimental conditions, eg. dosages, low or high cholesterol intake and source of lipids in
diet
