Strategy(Department of Health (DH) 2007) and
Improving Outcomes: A Strategy for Cancer
(DH 2011), the age range is being extended to 47-73
years. These women are invited to attend a dedicated
breast screening centre, often a mobile screening
unit, for a mammogram. NHSBSP (2008b) quality
assurance guidelines for nurses in breast cancer
screening state that provision of comprehensive
nursing care and support is dependent on clinical
nurse specialists (CNSs), whose knowledge and skills
are updated continually (NHSBSP 2008b).
