3.2. CFD analyses
The hydrodynamics of the MCR were modeled and analyzed under different operating conditions. A two-dimensional (2-D)
model of the horizontal x–y plane of the entire tank, i.e., the three mixed-cells, was constructed based upon the exact dimensions of the actual MCR (Labatut et al., 2007a). CFD simulations evaluated the fluid flow of the MCR using different bottom-center drain discharge flows. The effects were evaluated in terms of velocity magnitude vector and contour plots, and mean rotational velocities.
