Hormonal change is another major side effect of losing weight too quickly. When people
look to lose weight, they usually look for the fastest and most effective way to do so. However,
these processes are quite dangerous for the human body, even if they do in fact lose a lot of
weight, in then end their body and mind will greatly suffer from that process. These diets are
usually very low in calories and do not contain the necessary nutrients to support our
metabolism. This means that the lack of vitamins, proteins and all good nutrients in that diet will
massively affect the immunity system and can even cause great damage to the hair follicles and
to the nails. Hormonal changes caused by the lack of nutrients can also cause drastic changes to
our bodies. Therefore, if these habits become a habit and chronical nutrients deficiencies become
too much for the body to bear, then the person that tried that fast and easy solution to lose weight
will suffer greatly from long-term negative effects on their health. According to an article by
Patrick Dale, diets that consist of a very low amount of calories are often extremely dangerous
and deadly due to the very low amount of nutrient they offer to the body. When people attempt
to lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time, they oversee the potential dangers and only look
forward to their future new appearance. Therefore, they start a diet which lack lot of vitamins
and other essential nutrients. The lack of vitamins in the human body can be the beginning of a
lot of bigger problems including a weakening and suppression of the immune system as well as a
deterioration in skin, hair and even nails. If they continue to ignore the consequences and still
follow a diet poor in nutrients, it will lead to chronic mineral deficiencies. At that stage, these
consequences will have a long-term effect on your health and might even be irreversible. (Dale,
2015)
