General Info: Butterfly Agamas are generally found in China, Indo China, and Sumatra.
They can grow up to eighteen inches long. Males have more colorful sides and have
femoral pores unlike females.
Temperature: Daily temperatures should be kept between eighty-two and ninety-eight
degrees Fahrenheit. Nightly temperatures should range from seventy-two to eighty
degrees Fahrenheit. High humidity is required, mist occasionally.
Lighting: Full spectrum lighting and U.V. radiation is required for the Butterfly Agama.
Feeding/Watering: Butterfly Agamas are fed beetles, mealworms, beans, peas, and
many fruits and vegetables. You are recommended to provide a heavy shallow crock of
fresh water for drinking and soaking. Also add live plants. Change water daily for
Butterfly Agamas dehydrate easily.
Habitat/Housing: For one small pair, a thirty gallon terrarium is recommended. For
adult Butterfly Agamas, a minimum fifty-five gallon terrarium is needed. Landscape
properly to create shelters, burrows, and basking areas. Use driftwood, cork bark slabs,
hollows, etc.
