CHARACTERISTICS:
Thai Organic Rice is grown and processed without the use of any synthetic chemicals as found, for example, in fertilizers, insecticides, preservatives, seed treatment, hormones and such like. Currently, only specially selected high-quality Thai JasmineRice is planted organically in a very limited area, although this type of agricultural practice is becoming more widespread as the number of health-conscious consumers is growing rapidly.
PRODUCTION:
First grown in the highlands of northern Thailand at the village of Mea-loy in the Tung-Lor valley, where fertile soil and rainfall are abundant, the OrganicRice produced by Capital Rice is of premium quality and meets all EU standards. To guarantee the finest quality, the complicated production process requires intensive care, as well as close cooperation between Thailand’s Department of Agriculture and the BIOAGRICERT, an Italian independent organic survey institution.
MARKET FACTS:
The OrganicRice project was initiated with the full support of three parties : capital Rice Co., Ltd. in Bangkok, ChiangmaiChaiwiwat Rice Mill associatedwith its co-trader; RiseriaMonferano of Italy. Initial exports have been targeted at EU consumers, while potential markets have been identified in other European countries, North America and parts of Asia, where interest has been shown by the health and baby food industries.
