Post-harvest OA treatments showed significant reduction in ethylene production during ripening in mango. During fruit ripening climacteric peak of ethylene production was observed on day-4 and day-5 in control and treated fruit respectively. Climacteric peak of ethylene production was sup-pressed about 1.24-fold in fruit treated with 5 mmol/l OA as compared to control Similarly, OA-treated fruit exhibited suppressed ethylene production as compared to control during 28 days of cold storage However, the suppression was more noticeable between 21 and 28 days of storage. Fruit treated with 5 mmoI/L OA exhibited highest 1.50-fold reduction in mean ethylene production during cold storage in contrast to control.
