Zaller (2007) observed that the application of vermicompost raised firmness,
although it depended on the applied amount of vermicompost, since firmness decreased
with low doses. Sams (1999) and Chapagain and Wiesman (2004) observed that high
levels of nitrogen in tomato resulted in greater firmness, although in excess nitrogen
decreases it as well as a low level of calcium, potassium and phosphorus (Rico et al.,
2007; Chapagain and Wiesman, 2004).
