Food For Thought tonight:
Our life will be much more enjoyable when we share it with people we love. There are times, however, when we are forcefully separated from the one we love such parents, mates or friends. Coping with loss can be one of the most difficult things we ever have to do.
I finally realized that what I was trying to cope with was not a loss but a change. We tend to resist change, trying to stay in our current state of comfort because change is hard. But life is a constant change—sometimes severe, like the loss of someone we love; and sometimes wanted, like a new home.
Nothing is actually lost. The ones you love might not be the person in the sense of a human being, but they are part of the world somehow. I know they are still here when I hear their voices telling me how to do something. Knowing that they are not gone but rather changed into something I don’t understand makes it easier to accept reality. We just have to move forward. Without accepting that change, we can't get any peace because we think something is broken or wrong, but in fact, it isn’t; it just becomes different.
