VI. CONCLUSION
The intent of this report has been to evaluate the
effectiveness of the Skills Team within the Public Health
Agency. The results of the survey and interviews clearly
indicate that the team members believe the Skills Team has
been an effective means of conducting the work that needs to
be completed. The virtual Skills Team enables highly qualified
individuals from across Canada (and beyond) to collaborate on
projects and assemble as needed to get the job done, without
physical collocation. The fact that Skills Team members are
able to carry out their work from a location that they prefer to
be, with people of complementary skills and backgrounds, has
made the experience very satisfying for Skills Team members.
The very fact that team members are interested in virtual
socializing, beyond the requirements of work, is a clear
indicator of the strong relationships that have formed.
The report also offers indicators of effectiveness. Through
analysis of the results there were several relationships found
within the inputs, processes, and outputs of the Skills Team.
While some of the indicators are related to personal
characteristics or attributes that team members bring to the
group, there are indicators that can be introduced by
managerial action. In particular the recommendations presented
above that direct the actions of the team leader and contribute
to a high performing and satisfying work environment.
