foremost aim of data analysis is to identify information that clearly represents the perspectives and experiences of the participants.
Quantitative data analysis. There were 25 quantitative questions asked in the survey. To analyze the data, questions were placed into three categories: teamwork, collaborative capacity, and demographic. To measure teamwork 11 questions were asked: 8 using a 5-point scale ranging from 1 (never) to 5 (always) intended to describe participant perception, and 3 using a 7-point scale ranging from 1 (very dissatisfied) to 7 (very satisfied) intended to describe participant preference of teamwork. To measure collaborative capacity 11 questions were asked: 8 using a 5-point scale ranging from 1 (never) to 5 (always) intended to describe participant perception, and 3 using a 7-point scale ranging from 1 (very dissatisfied) to 7 (very satisfied) intended to describe participant preference of collaboration. Demographic consisted of three questions. Question 1 intended to gather data on the number of participants that completed the survey. Question 2 revealed the number of participants from each team that completed the survey. Question 29 was intended to measure participants‘ knowledge of the organizational goals. The quantitative data were downloaded to a Microsoft Excel file in a graphical format and labelled as Figures C1 through C16 in Appendix C; these data were analyzed using the percentage measurements generated by SurveyMonkey (2010). After the data were downloaded, a final analysis was performed. The percentage measurements were averaged to reflect a composite measure of teamwork and of collaborative capacity and were saved in a Microsoft Excel file (see Figures C17 and C18 in Appendix C). The percentage and composite measures were consulted in all subsequent qualitative data analysis. Jick (1979) asserted that quantitative results should be ―used largely to supplement qualitative data‖ (p. 606) and that quantitative data are ―more meaningful when interpreted in light of critical qualitative information‖ (p. 606).
